The chick that never sleeps, meet Marcia!

Me with Clementine

Since I’ve moved to Nashville, I have seen this chicky everywhere. She proves to be a go-getter, a hard worker, super fashionable, and lets not forget to mention her love for animals.(a woman after my own heart!) She is the face behind so many things here in Nashville, that’s why I call her the woman that never sleeps-because how can she!? She’s a  native of St. Louis, and she  moved to Nashville in 2010 and went to work helping build Nashville organizations such as Nashville Fashion Week, where she is a co-founder and managing partner, and the Tiny But Mighty Fund, a nonprofit that raises money for animal welfare. Marcia has served as chair of the Nashville Humane Association’s annual Unleashed event, and is on the board for the Belcourt Theatre. The Nashville Business Journal recognized Marcia as part of their 40 Under 40 class of 2015. OK, are you impressed yet? Because  I envy her drive! I had fun asking her my typical interview questions that I ask every person I feature. Ok, I won’t make you wait anymore….Meet the fabulous Marcia Masulla.

What’s your fave song right now?

The new Ten out of Tenn: 10 Years album has been on repeat since I went to show support a few friends at their commemorative show at The Ryman a few weeks ago. The amount of raw talent on that album is just incredible… tons of Tennessee pride right there.

What’s your favorite style to wear?

I’m having a bit of a pencil skirt moment right now.
I credit it to my friend Lagilelei of the Chicago based fashion brand, Lagi Nadeau. She showcased such gorgeous looks  at Nashville Fashion Week in April and I was lucky enough to wear a few of her pieces throughout the week.
I just feel like a WOMAN when I wear her skirts. For contrast, I like pairing her feminine skirts with a classic Billy Reid menswear button-up.

What’s your guilty pleasure snack-go-to?
Tater tots.
It’s kind of a problem.
What’s your MUST-HAVE beauty item you can’t live with out?
Renae Morton of Lucy Pop Salon.
She’s not an item but if it wasn’t for her working her magic for both my hair and makeup, I’d show up with wet hair to all of these events…

Who’s the most influential person in your life?
My mother Diane K Masulla, she passed away when I was just 11 years old but her influence is with me each and every day.
What’s the 1 thing you want to accomplish that you haven’t yet?
Being madly in love.
NFW
What’s your favorite item in your closet?
I have these black modern take on motorcycle booties by Stella McCartney that I splurged on a couple of years ago. McCartney’s fashion collection is cruelty-free and does not use animal skins or furs and she also utilizes other sustainable practices as well. The “faux-leather” of these boots still look and feel like butta without sacrificing a life.
What’s your fave inspirational quote?
I can’t just choose one! These are three quotes that I have cherished for quite some time.

“Somebody once asked me if I ever went up to the plate trying to hit a home run. I said, ‘Sure, every time.’ “
-Mickey Mantle

“Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.” – Author Unknown

“…You can stand me up at the gates of hell..But I won’t back down.” -Tom Petty
